چکیده

In the main result of this paper we show that if the Julia set of a meromorphic function f contains a free analytic Jordan arc then it must in fact be a straight line, circle, segment of a straight line or an arc of a circle. If f is transcendental then the Julia set is unbounded and so consists of one or two straight line segments. We construct examples of functions whose Julia sets are of this form.

Geometric Rigidity for Class S of Transcendental Meromorphic Functions Whose Julia Sets Are Jordan Curves

We consider any transcendental meromorphic function f of Class S whose Julia set is a Jordan curve. We show that the Julia set of f either is an extended straight line or has Hausdorff dimension strictly greater than 1. The proof uses conformal iterated function systems and extends many earlier results of this type.

Geometric Rigidity for the Class S of Transcendental Meromorphic Functions

We consider all the transcendental meromorphic functions from the class S whose Julia set is a Jordan curve. We show that then the Julia set is either a straight line or its Hausdorff dimension is strictly larger than 1.

Meromorphic Functions with Two Completely Invariant Domains

We show that if a meromorphic function has two completely invariant Fatou components and only finitely many critical and asymptotic values, then its Julia set is a Jordan curve. However, even if both domains are attracting basins, the Julia set need not be a quasicircle. We also show that all critical and asymptotic values are contained in the two completely invariant components. This need not ...

The Hausdorff Dimension of Julia Sets of Entire Functions Iv

It is known that, for a transcendental entire function f, the Hausdorff dimension of J( f ) satisfies 1% dim J( f )% 2. For each d ` (1, 2), an example of a transcendental entire function f with dim J( f ) ̄ d is given. It is then indicated how this function can be modified to produce a transcendental meromorphic function F with one pole with dim J(F ) ̄ d. These appear to be the first examples o...

Totally Disconnected Julia Set for Different Classes of Meromorphic Functions
